Family-owned Western Australian pie and sausage roll maker Mrs Mac’s wins exclusive five-year Perth Stadium contract ahead of eastern states’ competition

There’s arguably no more iconic Australian pastime than enjoying a pie at a sporting event and WA’s Mrs Mac’s has soared above the pack to win the exclusive contract to supply pies and savoury pastries at the new Perth Stadium.

Mrs Mac’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Slaughter said the company was delighted to have been awarded the five-year contract ahead of eastern states’ competitors, which had previously dominated the pie supply in stadiums across Western Australia.

“This announcement means Western Australians will not only be able to enjoy watching their favourite team or show at our World-class new stadium but for the first time in years will be able to enjoy a quality pie made by a local, family-owned business,” he said.

As part of its service to the venue, Mrs Mac’s has developed an exclusive Perth Stadium pie that will feature prime Angus beef, sourced in WA’s south-west. It will also provide the only onsite pie shop in an Australian stadium and will have a mobile selling unit in use around the Stadium Park during events.

“The tender win is especially significant both for the Macgregor family, which has owned Mrs Mac’s since its humble beginnings in 1954 as Bakewell Pies and for our 350 employees, most of whom are based at our Morley bakery and head office,” Mr Slaughter said.

“This is not only recognition of the quality of our products, but of the local produce we use in all our savoury pastries – 85 per cent of our ingredients are sourced in WA, including 2800 tonnes of prime beef and 4800 tonnes a year of premium WA flour.

“WA’s food manufacturing sector contributes extensively to our State economy and this announcement provides a wonderful opportunity to keep jobs growing within WA.” Perth Stadium Chief Executive Officer Mike McKenna congratulated Mrs Mac’s on its appointment.
